Tips & Tricks For Styling Your Kitchen
At Johnson Tiles, we know how important it is to get the perfect look for your kitchen, as many people consider it to be the heart of the home. With so many decisions to make, check out our top 5 tips & tricks for choosing the right style for you.
1. Set the tone
First, think about a colour scheme that works best for you and your home. Do you want bright and bold, or calm and neutral?
Neutrals like grey, beige, and white can create a sophisticated look which allows you to accessorise with bold splashes of colour.
If your personal style is livelier and more bold, opt for more vibrant tones. Pairing clashing colours can create daring looks but finding the right balance with colour is key.
2. Think about your lighting
For kitchens where there is plenty of natural light, capitalise on this with gloss paint colours and accessories as they'll reflect light for an inviting and welcoming shine.
In rooms where the lighting is more subdued, the relationship between colour and light is distorted. To compensate for this, choose lighter colours with more intensity, or darker colours with less intensity.
Alternatively, try brighter bulbs to show off your chosen colour scheme in the best light!
3. Don't forget your splashback!
Liven up the area behind your cooker by introducing a fun paint colour or opt for a feature with a small format glazed tile fixed in a pattern like herringbone.
This can help to create a focal point and will add character to an area of your kitchen that can sometimes be forgotten.
Also, glazed tiles are easier to clean so are perfect for behind your cooker!
4. Bring the outdoors in
Add some character to your kitchen by bringing touches of the natural world into your home. For example, you could incorporate wooden features, either with furniture, shelving or accessories.
Build on this by pairing with wood-effect porcelain floor tiles. With the appearance of natural wood and the ease of cleaning that a porcelain tile provides, they are a perfect fit!
5. Floors don't have to be just functional
If you want your floor to make a statement, there is plenty to choose from. If the cottagecore trend is your goal, opt for floral tiles and patterns, or alternatively, inject some personality with a modern, yet understated geometric shape or design.
Or, for a more subtle look, try a stone effect tile which will add some natural variation, making your floor stand out.
